BIA/OC Holds Annual Wine and Food Fundraiser

IRVINE, CA –The Fall season is the perfect time to appreciate delicious wine, decedent food and enjoy the company of friends and colleagues. This year, the Annual Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) Wine and Food Fundraiser, Wine Country Safari, will be held on Thursday, September 27 2007 at the Rancho Las Lomas Zoological Gardens and Villa in Silverado, California. From 5:30pm until 8:30pm guests will enjoy the pairings of fabulous wines from around the world donated by Morry’s of Naples and The Reserve Wine Shop. In addition, this year, there is also a microbrew tasting. Tantalizing tapas and delectable desserts are prepared by renowned chefs of Suzanne’s Catering, Purcell Murray and Bad to the Bone restaurant.

Best of all, the proceeds from this event benefit the BITA program at Katella and Western High Schools in Anaheim and Valencia High School in Placentia. BITA is a BIA/OC developed four-year high school program. This exposes young people to diverse career paths (labor, management, and professional services) available within the construction industry. Approximately $40,000 has been raised by BIA/OC members and will be donated to the program.

This event comes just in time for celebrating after the BITA students at Katella High School completed their first ever entry into HomeAid Orange County’s famous, Project Playhouse fundraiser. Their playhouse, Lulu’s Diner, is modeled after a 50’s diner, complete with green building certification, LED lighting, solar panel roof, iPod docking station, and a flat screen television. Lulu’s Diner took home four awards including, 1st Place in the Grand Award, the Rainbow Award, the Imagination Award, and the Spirit Award.
