Jan. 2010 Outlook 
Nearly 600 people joined us for BIA/OC’s 2010 Economic Outlook at the Costa Mesa Hilton Hotel. This year’s guest speaker was Christopher Thornberg from Beacon Economics. He presented an in-depth overview of where the national and Orange County economies are likely headed in 2010 and beyond. Dan Young, President of The Irvine Company also provided a special introduction and an update on Irvine Co.’s new projects. The buzz in the room was undeniable – the building industry is on the upswing! |

2009 Breakfast Membership Meeting
John Semcken, Majestic Realty was the featured speaker at the Oct. 6th Breakfast membership meeting. He spoke about plans for the first LEED certified Green Football Stadium ever built. It was a fantastic event MC-ed by David Stein (Board member Mark Himmelstein’s brother) host of The Celebration of Sports, a nationally syndicated radio show. |

2009 Wine Event
The Building Industry Association of Orange County raised $31,000 for its non-profit Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA) through the annual Wine and Food Event at the new Children’s Museum Pretend City in Irvine. BITA is a BIA/OC developed four-year high school program exposes young people to diverse career paths within the building industry. |

2009 BIA/OC Kickball Tournament
10 teams participated in BIA/OC’s 1st Kickball tournament; over 120 players came out to participate. Victory rally was held at BJ’s Pizza afterwards. |

2009 BIA LA and OC Joint Membership Meeting
BIA/LA Ventura and Orange County partnered again to host the July general membership meeting. BIA/OC members rode the train to the Metropolitan Water District in Downtown LA. Special guest speaker was Henry G. Cisneros, Executive Chairman of CityView and former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. His presentation covered the priorities of the new administration and California legislation regarding sustainability & green communities as well as the expectations of the next generations of homebuyers. |

2009 Outlook Meeting
BIA/OC’s annual Economic Outlook took place on January 26, 2009 at the Irvine Marriott Hotel with over 500 people in attendance to hear Dr. Christopher Thronberg and Brad Kemp from Beacon Economics discussing the economics behind the slowdown, in addition to what is expected in the coming months and years. |

2008 Economic Outlook 
The 2008 BIA/OC Annual Economic Outlook was held on January 28th at the Irvine Marriott. With over 700 attendees, the program was a huge success. Dr. Esmael Adibi and Dr. John Husing gave their insight to the future of homebuilding in Orange County and the Inland Emipre. |
